Yep, that’s right, Valve is finally releasing a new game! (kinda) Announced during this morning’s International Dota 2 Championships through an extremely cryptic teaser trailer, Artifact is a one-on-one card-battling game featuring elements from the Dota series.
The event was hosted by Sean “Day9” Plott, who recalled a match he had played in an early version of the game. “I played a game where I was getting my ass kicked in two lanes,” said Plott. “I kept building barracks in the third, and I kept flooding the lane with creeps.”
Judging by Plott’s description, it can be assumed that the game will be much more than a simple rip-off of Hearthstone, it seems as though the team genuinely wants to create a new kind of Dota experience. Oh, and something interesting to note is that Brad Muir, formerly of Double Fine, is currently helming the project.
Artifact is aiming to release sometime in 2018.
