Tin Man Games are the masters of choose your own adventure style games. A little while ago we did a brief review of their remake of the classic book, Hamlet, in the game To Be or Not To Be. That game was amazing, positively helped by the amazing writing of Ryan North.
This latest game, The Warlock of Firetop Mountain (TWoFM), follows more in the footsteps of their previous games. Based on the stories of Steven Jackson and Ian Livingstone, TWoFM is a choose your own adventure game where you get treated to an extremely pure version of Dungeons and Dragons. Just like in the books you will start with a limited pool of health and magic which will change as you travel and experience more of the world around you. It is unforgiving and in many instances will become more like a puzzle than an RPG.
The stories that these games are build from are often quite deep and are extremely well written, they are an absolute charm for anyone who likes their high fantasy setting. This game also went a bit further than other similar games that they have developed in the past. Thanks to the Kickstarter campaign earlier this year, Tin Man Games have been able to expand on the engine that they normally use to create these games. This has allowed them to create a much more interactive story than ever before.
Keep an eye out for our review which should be heading out soon. Until then, check out the trailer below:
