Footage of what Mass Effect: Andromeda is shaping up to be, is finally hitting the airwaves as earlier today BioWare released a 5-minute gameplay video. Check it out below!
First things first… MAKO!!! They’re bringing back the MAKO!!! Well, I guess they’re calling it the ‘Nomad’ nowdays (LAAAME). Anyway, it seems more than ever before, the Mass Effect franchise is dipping its hands in planet exploration, as the player searches for humanity’s new home.
There will still be weird alien conversations — probably potential love entanglements — but more opportunity to discover and fight off planetary hazards. The trailer showcased a bit of investigation work through a wrist mounted scanner, as well as hostile native life forms and environmental hazards. Crafting will also take primary seating in Andromeda as it will be the player’s primary means of acquiring new weapons, armour and other items.
So far, it doesn’t look like too much has changed in the combat department. A jetpack was shown off, as well as a mid-air dash (similar to the Vanguard ability in the previous games) and fire hands. The gunplay looks fairly on par, which is a bit disappointing as they were steadily improving it over the last trilogy. I was hoping for a bit more of a leg-up. Unfortunately, from what the trailer shows, the shooting looked devoid of satisfaction. Hopefully I’m wrong.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming in Spring 2017 (Autumn for us Aussies) to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, and Xbox One.
