TL;DR: Final Fantasy XV has been delayed until the 29th of November.
“OH, PLEASE GOD NO”
– Final Fantasy fans everywhere
Mere moments ago we got confirmation of the devastating news that Final Fantasy XV has been delayed (again) until the 29th of November, 2016.
In the video detailing the delay, Director Hajime Tabata details that the delay is to allow the team to “further polish and conduct quality testing” and continues to state that “As the director and lead of this project, I wish to personally apologize for the additional wait. As a team, we want Final Fantasy 15 to achieve a level of perfection that our fans deserve. We kindly ask for your understanding.”
The rumour originally came from Gamnesia and then Gematsu who claimed that they had trusted sources confirming the delay, that it would be announced as early as Monday, and that Gamestop employees already had promo material confirming this rescheduled date. Destructoid reached out to a Gamestop employee who confirmed that the date in their system still reads the 30th of September, and an employee at EB Games confirmed this to us personally. The most recent trailer (released Saturday) also showed the original date.
This sucks due to the massive deal that Square Enix made announcing the release date back in March. And because I will be on my GODDAMN HONEYMOON! I’VE WAITED FOR THIS FOR ALMOST A DECADE FOR THIS GAME SQUARE, YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME GODDAMN IT.
I need to lie down.
