Update: Ubisoft has confirmed that Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition will be released September 12. Also confirming that the demo leaked came from an earlier build of the game. In particular, the sections of the game in which players control Murphy will feature the same touch screen controls seen in PS Vita and Wii U versions.
Thanks to a leak on the Nintendo eShop we can now expect to play Rayman Legends on our Switch’s September 12th. The release date was inadvertently made known when the title had a demo briefly appear beneath the store’s “Coming Soon” tab.
The demo included 3 levels from the game’s campaign as well as co-op mini game “Kung Foot”. For anybody who played the title previously, it’s interesting to note that the touch screen elements used in Wii U and PS Vita ports will not be present in the Switch version.
You might remember Rayman Legends originally being slated for the launch of Nintendo’s Wii U way back in 2012, before being delayed- and eventually ported over to pretty much every platform imaginable. If somehow you have yet to play Rayman Legends I urge you to check it out, it’s easily one of the best platformers in recent memory.
