New Overwatch Content Patch Adds Balance Changes, Free Weekend for Consoles

Second time’s the charm is what they always say, eh? Right. Well, at long last, Patch 1.3, the update that brings Overwatch Season Two to the live game, was released earlier today!

The full details for the Patch overhaul can be found at this wonderful article over here, but the standout change for me at least is that there is no more Sudden Death! Games will not have the potential to be a draw.

The update also comes with a heft of character and map balance changes. The full patch notes can be found here, but I’ve taken out some highlights for you:

      • Master – 3500-3999
      • Grandmaster – 4000-5000
  • Ultimates that consume the ultimate meter when activated will now drain the meter more quickly (.25 second instead of 1 second)
  • Reverted a recent change that reduced the size of heroes’ projectiles

  • Hanzo will now experience a 30% decrease in speed while aiming (formerly 40%)
  • Maximum projectile speed has been increased by 30%

Along with the patch, Blizzard also announced that Overwatch will be free to play for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players from the 9th-12th of September.

Progress for those who engage in the weekend and then wish to purchase the game will continue on. Additionally, while PlayStation Plus is not required to participate, but if you’re on Xbox One, you will be required to own Xbox Live Gold.
