New Division Patch to Address Weapon Balance

It’s no secret that The Division has suffered some terrible balance issues since launch, but it looks like the developers at Ubisoft Massive are attempting to address some of these in a big new balance update.

Massive have admitted that the meta is currently unbalanced, with the primary focus being to maximise SMG and Marksman Rifle combinations, particularly the AUG/Vector with an M1A. They are also the only two weapon families with unique bonuses, making them the most sought-after and used weapons.

The short of how they will be addressing these issues is by making the following changes:

  • Add unique bonuses to each weapon family
  • Increase Shotgun damage output
  • Decrease the damage of the AUG and Vector
  • Make adjustments to the M1A
  • Introduce new weapons
  • Add the ability to reroll talents on weapons
  • Make changes to special ammo

With the new DLC Underground set to release in less than a week for Xbox One, and just over a month for PC and Playstation 4, new weapon types and bonuses will also be implemented.

Additionally, players will now be able to recalibrate weapon talents, just like you would for armour. In order to do this you must collect a new form of currecy called ‘Weapon Kits’ that can be obtained through crafting, enemy drops, and crates in the Underground. Spend these ‘weapon kits’ in combination with Pheonix Credits and you can adjust your weapon’s talents.

Special ammo such as Explosive ammo and Incendiary bullets have also received adjustments in order to more effectively balance the game.
