After announcing and eventually going into beta, Minecraft: Education Edition has finally launched! It has launched in 50 countries, and in 11 languages to provide a whole bunch of fun and learning to video game loving kids.
As Mojang’s Chief Operations Officer Vu Bui stated previously:
“One of the reasons Minecraft fits so well in the classroom is because it’s a common, creative playground…We’ve seen that Minecraft transcends the differences in teaching and learning styles and education systems around the world. It’s an open space where people can come together and build a lesson around nearly anything.”
Education Edition will include a whole heap of fun features using the gameplay of Minecraft, and it also comes with a classroom companion app that has a map view, world management settings and plenty more. It’ll cost $5USD per user, per year for the school/classroom and the official website already has a bunch of tutorials for those interested.
