The European and North American League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) were recently held in Poland and Canada to crown the teams that would be representing their region in the upcoming World Championships.
In Europe, G2 eSports took on Splyce in a best of 5. G2 took game one in a hard-fought 41-minute game, but Splyce replied with their own win in game 2. G2 then continued on their ways by taking game 3 and 4 to win the series 3-1. This win defends their European title and allows them to take the second seed into the Worlds Championships.
In North America, Team SoloMid tried to become the most successful organisation in NA history by capturing their 4th Championship. However, standing in their way was long time grand final rival Cloud 9. Game 1 was taken by Cloud 9 but both teams looked to be very nervous coming into the start of the series. In Game 2 and 3, it was almost an exact flip of Game 1, with TSM easily taking both wins. Game 4 was very back and forth with TSM managing to secure four dragons but Cloud 9 kept up, both teams had gold leads exceeding 5k throughout the series but an extended team fight after TSM took the Elder Dragon around the Baron pit secured the 3-1 series win for TSM and handed them their 4th Championship in North America. TSM also take the No. 1 seed at the World Championships in October.
